Our charitable support

Coochi love to see all the fantastic work that charities do to support the lives of pregnant women and new babies around the world.

Take a look at some of the inspirational work that we currently support -

The Raven Trust - Malawi, East Afria
Coochi are supporters of The Raven Trust in Malawi, who prove direct support to needy communities in Malawi, East Africa. Coochi have been so impressed with the work of Ester Lupafya who is in charge of home based AIDs care and work at Ekwendeni Hospital. Coochi have donated some of towelling Coocoose aprons for use with HIV / AIDS orphans in the community. You can learn more about Esther's work from an article on The Raven Trust website at:- http://www.theraventrust.org/newslink_extra_1.pdf

Tommy's
Coochi have always loved to follow the great work of Tommy's who continue to lead the way in maternal and fetal research in the UK. Coochi have supported Tommy's with free competition giveaways of our beautiful Coocoose. Don't forget that Tommy's are their support all mums through pregnancy, and offer a fantastic midwife advisory service – check it out at: http://www.tommys.org/Page.aspx?pid=308

St Thomas' Hospital, UPBEAT
Coochi are currently supporting the work of the Maternal and Fetal Research Unit at St Thomas' Hospital, London. We know that obesity increases the risk of almost every pregnancy complication, and babies born to obese women have short and long term health consequences, from childhood obesity (and all that entails) to type 2 diabetes and heart disease. The UPBEAT project with 100 pregnant women to try and improve successful pregnancy outcomes.

UPBEAT stands for Uk Pregnancies Better Eating and Activity Trial and in the first phase we will be recruiting a total of 100 women (50 in London and 50 in Newcastle) with BMI >30 to be randomised to either increase their activity levels and change the food they eat or receive routine antenatal
care and advice.

We hope that we will improve the blood sugar control in women in the intervention group, an if we achieve this and change women's behaviour and improve pregnancy outcomes we will then go on to recruit 2700 women in a large multicentretrial.

Amigos, Uganda
